We track our greenhouse gas emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 as guided in the GHG Protocol. In 2023, Scope 2 emissions fell by 12%, while Scope 1 rose by 5% — resulting in an overall reduction of 7% compared to 2022.
Since 2019, Clal has taken part in the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection’s Voluntary GHG Reporting Program, which brings together government ministries, industry, energy producers, local authorities, and NGOs. By reporting annually, we reaffirm our commitment to transparency and to raising environmental awareness.
Our main sources of energy use are electricity in office buildings and fuel for company vehicles. To reduce consumption, we promote hybrid and remote work, have shifted much of our fleet to hybrid cars, and introduced automatic shutdowns of lighting, HVAC, and IT systems. We also monitor water usage closely — in 2023 consumption stood at 16,765 m³.
Our investment policy distinguishes between controversial sectors (such as fossil fuels, extractive industries, and animal testing) and positive-impact activities. We prioritize companies that generate revenue from products and services aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
